Cold Prospecting Is Tough, Fix 3 Things …‏


Cold prospecting is tough. Why? Because prospects are skeptical, sales resistant, and just don't believe strangers. Now, think about these three things again: 

1. Skeptical.
2. Sales resistant.
3. Don't believe strangers. 

Now, do any of those three things have anything to do with your product or opportunity? No. 

All three things have everything to do with your relationship and rapport with the prospect. 

Yet, distributors go to the shopping mall, cold-contact clerks and strangers, and their opening sentences are all about their product or opportunity. It is obvious why it all goes wrong. These distributors are talking about the wrong thing. 

So what is the solution? If you are talking to cold prospects, the first order of business is not about your product, your opportunity, your features or your benefits... the first order of business is creating rapport. Once that is established, the rest is easy. 

If you are in network marketing, one of the first skills to master is how to create instant rapport by talking to the programs in your prospect's subconsciousmind. Without this skill, we are dead.  

Fortunately, this skill isn't hard to learn, but we do have to learn it. I want to turn cold prospects into warm prospects in the first five to ten seconds. Then, our presentation will be heard and believed.
